About Golf Fit
I established Golf Fit Ltd in 2007 to provide golf fitness evaluations and training programmes in Edinburgh. Since then, our growth has allowed us to expand our workbase to cover the entirety of Scotland. In 2009, Craig Tumblety became a Golf Fit Trainer, Craig and I currently work with male and female golfers of all ages and abilities to help them develop their golf specific movement skills and thus enhance their performance and enjoyment of the game of golf. In 2012, we decided that we needed to add two physiotherapists to our team. Tess and Laura are Clinical Specialists in Sports Injuries and have greatly added to the quality of support that we can offer the golfers we work with.
My philosophy on how to teach golf fitness is simple: a golfer needs to understand how their body works in their golf swing, where their body lacks mobility; stability; power, balance and co-ordination and how they subsequently compensate to create movement. If an instructor can provide this information then the pupil is empowered to focus their development on achieving specific movement goals. Ultimately, when combined with excellent coaching, this creates a more efficient and effective golf swing.
I have a desire to help young golfers develop into players who can win on the world stage. With this in mind, we created our own Junior Program in April, 2010. Included in the development program are 2010 Scottish and British Age Group Champions. We are also proud to work with the highly successful Junior Lothians Golf Team.
Research conducted at the University of Edinburgh shows our programs enhance your power, mobility, stability and balance; even European Tour players have been shown to hit the ball longer and straighter. By improving the functional movement of your body you also reduce the chance of injury.
